A group of Portland businesses, including Hawthorne Auto Clinic, Inc., will
donate energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs ( CFLs) to their
customers during the month of March. (While supplies last.) The campaign, named
Energy March, aims to increase energy efficiency by getting people used to using
CFLs. In addition to saving people money, increased use of CFLs would reduce
energy consumption in the city of Portland. Increased use of CFLs will also
lower carbon emissions and thus help slow global warming. Each CFL is estimated
to save the average user $36 compared to the number of equivalent incandescent
bulbs needed to match the life of each CFL. The coalition will be recruiting
additional businesses throughout March.
